Carson Hilton Palmer (born December 27, 1979) is an American football quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at USC and won the Heisman Trophy in 2002. The Cincinnati Bengals, for whom he played eight seasons, chose him with the first overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. Palmer has also played for the Oakland Raiders. He is the older brother of fellow quarterback Jordan Palmer. ==Early years== Palmer was born in Fresno, California. He attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School after his first three years of high school at Falconer High School in Falconer, New York. He then moved back to Rancho Santa Margarita, California in 2001. By the time he was in seventh grade, Palmer had remarkable size and arm strength for his age. His father, Bill Palmer, enrolled him in private classes in Orange County, but after a few years he grew tired of private classes and begged his dad to transfer him to Falconer Central School, where he became a prodigy. After he became "too good" for the Upstate New York league, he then transferred back to California and his private classes, where he was later taught by quarterback guru Bob Johnson. Palmer was scheduled to enroll in Santa Margarita Catholic High School after his time at Falconer as a senior. Initially, the plan was to move the family to the East Coast, but after careful consideration, Carson's father realized that the level of competition in California was best for Carson. Palmer enrolled at Santa Margarita and Bill Palmer commuted home on weekends via airplane. After a successful stint as a starter his junior year, Palmer started to field offers from USC, Notre Dame, Colorado, Miami (Florida) and reportedly San Diego State. He followed up a stellar junior season with a remarkable senior season, cementing himself as one of the most touted players ever to come out of Santa Margarita Catholic High School. In his senior season, he led Orange County with a 203.9 quarterback rating.
